About SGI

We are a group of stakeholders from fourteen counties across central, south, and east Arkansas who recognize and are responding to the need for a dynamic, progressive, and collaborative strategic plan for regional economic development. Our team of partners is multi-dimensional and diverse, representing the private sector, education, workforce, science and research, government, philanthropy, and chambers of commerce. Our commitment is to position southeast Arkansas as a competitive force in the global economy by integrating our various assets to support sector-based growth and development.

Our Vision

Southeast Arkansas is a vibrant region. Our workforce is future-looking with high-skills and aptitudes that match and drive future innovation and opportunities. We have strong regional collaboration with widespread community engagement. Our region is highly competitive on national and global scales with a well-crafted and worthy reputation.

SGI recently completed an in-depth, 12-month visioning and planning process to create a common economic development agenda. As a result, we will focus on growing specific industrial and technology sectors of our economy by strategically organizing leadership in four key areas:  entrepreneurship, infrastructure and technology, talent development, and sector partnerships. We are now shifting our focus to implementation, and will align our strategies and investments to support our regional target sectors.
